The history of Champagne Secondé-Simon begins in 1983, when Jean-Luc Secondé, son of Champagne winemakers, together with his wife Catherine, decided to create his own Domaine in the village of Ambonnay, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims vineyards. Currently the Domaine has 6 hectares of exclusively Grand Cru vineyards and its management is entrusted to Jérôme Bôle and Nicolas Secondé, respectively son-in-law and son of Jean-Luc and Catherine Secondé.
Located in the cradle of the Champagne, the Ambonnay-Bouzy hill faces south/south-east and benefits from geological conditions and a microclimate ideal for the growing high quality grapes. The vines grow in fact on a hilly calcareous soil covered by a layer of chalky clay which in combination with the microclimate influences the character of the wines, which stand out for their identity and structure, and are particularly wanted by lovers of fine Champagne. It should be emphasized that the Domaine is one of the major suppliers of Pinot Noir grapes of the Krug Maison.
The Domaine Secondé-Simon is careful to the respect for the environment through biodynamic farming practices: since 2018 it has been certified HVE - Haute Valeur Environnementale, i.e. vineyards grown using the sustainable viticulture method and since 2019 it has been certified Viticulture Durable en Champagne.
