Pierre Legras

Pierre Legras's foundation as a company has rather recent origins but a long history marked by eleven generations of Vignerons for almost four hundred years. After his education at the Lycée Vineyard of Avize and a Diploma in Oenology, Vincent Legras created in 2002 the Maison Pierre Legras Champagne, a tribute to his distant ancestor. Assisted by his father, he developed his own winery over the years, today the estate has grown from 5 to more than 10 hectares. 

Lots of investments in pressing, in vats, in vineyards... all the efforts needed to offer wines up to their ambitions. In 2011, Marcelline joined him and, together, they developed the Brand at an international level. Pierre Legras Champagnes are intimately linked to the Grand Cru terroir of Chouilly, an emblematic village of Côte des Blancs. Of the ten hectares of the estate, seven are exclusively dedicated to Chardonnay, and the remaining ones to Pinot Noir and Meunier.

 This choice is explained by the unique characteristics of its climate and soil suitable for this grape variety and perfect to obtain wines of deep minerality and great finesse. For 30 years Vincent Legras has been managing his vineyard in a logic of environmental conservation, treatments, organic inputs, grassing and all the phases of the vineyard are thought and planned in a sustainable way. 

The modern winery, suitable for processing his own vintages, consists of 27 stainless steel vats and a dozen barrels, giving Vincent the possibility to orchestrate his wines as he wishes: Champagnes of terroir and character.
