Famille Delouvin

The Domaine Famille Delouvin is located and extends over about 7 hectares in the village of Vandières, in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne. Currently, after various oenological experiences around the world, the young and talented Geoffrey Delouvin - the eleventh generation - runs the family Domaine. Driven by the desire to combine tradition with renewal, he stylishly traces his ideas animated by this new generation of Vignerons. 

The plots of land owned, mostly old vines, are nestled on the slopes with a south/south-east exposure, anchored on a mosaic of different soils: limestone-clay, chalk outcrops and sandy. Such diversity implies the complexity of their terroir. The dominant grape variety is Meunier, to which the family devotes a great deal of passion, although some plots on atypical terroirs allow them to also extract the quintessence of Chardonnay. In the vineyard, pragmatism is the rule.

As each plot is unique, it is very important to be able to rely on the sense of observation and experience passed down from 11 generations of vignerons in order to understand it. Thus, knowledge is passed on from father to son and the approach remains very simple: respect for life and the land, in order to obtain great Champagnes. In the vineyard, no herbicides, no deep ploughing, but shallow tilling and spontaneous natural grassing that reveals great biodiversity within their plots are used. 

No insecticides, no chemical fertilisers but composted manure for at least 12 months to promote the microbiological life of the soil. In the cellar, all the processes follow very different paths: parcel selection of sapid Meunier and chalky Chardonnay aged on the lees in steel tanks, Lieux Dits harvested at high ripeness, spontaneous fermentation and maturation on the lees for 9 months in fût de chêne. Origin and identity are the key words for the production of Champagnes Famille Delouvin.
