Guy Charlemagne

In Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, in the Côte des Blancs, right in front of the famous Maison Salon, stands the Domaine Guy Charlemagne, founded in 1892 and handed down from father to son even today, headed by Philippe Charlemagne. The property is spread over 15 hectares in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, 100% Grand Cru, plus other small plots in the Côte de Sézanne, with 87% of the vineyards consisting of Chardonnay, the king variety of this region, and 13% of Pinot Noir. The average age of the vineyards is 42 years.


The terroir is composed of chalk, the Craie, which influences the character of the Blanc de Blancs (100% Chardonnay), which are characterized by an appreciable structure with an intense flavor and minerality accompanied by finesse and elegance. The typical Goût de Terroir is the result of the separate vinification of the best plots of the village: les Chétillons, Coulmets, Vaucherots, Mont-Joly. The Domaine Guy Charlemagne is certified HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale), ie vines grown using the “sustainable” viticulture method.
