Champagne Jean Plener Fils has its roots in the history of the region and its terroir since the 19th century: there are seven generations of family winemakers who have followed one another over the centuries in Bouzy, Grand Cru of the Montagne de Reims, and Maud Plener represents the latest generation. Returning to Bouzy in 2013 after a work experience in the European Independent Winegrowers Association, Maud began a course of study at the Lycée Viticole d'Avize, in Champagne.
It was during this period that he began to work closely with his father, acquiring the viticultural knowledge inherited from the family.
The Domaine Jean Plener vineyard covers 5.5 hectares and is divided into 18 parcels scattered throughout the Bouzy terroir. The average age of the vineyards is 35 years and they are made up of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay.
This particular subdivision of the vineyard is an advantage for the Domaine, which thus enjoys all the specificities of the terroir, benefiting from the specific compositions of the soil and the different exposures to the sun. The Planer family philosophy can be summed up in the motto "working for the best" and is reflected in all the actions undertaken inside and outside the vineyard: to lead the company and manage the vineyard in a sustainable way so that each bottle is the best.
Since 26 October 2015, Champagne Jean Plener Fils has had the double certification "Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne" (VDC) and "High Environmental Value" (HVE), constantly engaging ina program that promotes environmentally friendly practices in relation to the conservation of biodiversity, phytosanitary strategies, management of fertilizer use and water management.
