Chartogne-Taillet

Fiacre Taillet, wine-maker in Merfy in 1485 has been followed by a large number of wine-maker generations in Merfy. A second Fiacre Taillet, born in 1700 - expert wine-grower -, wrote down his memories, presenting his life and work, as well as the political, cultural and economic situation of the early 18th century. 

Laurent and Antoine Taillet still keep traces of their ancestor's diary, passed on from father to son. Today the diary is in the hands of Alexandre Chartogne-Taillet: since 2006 he has managed and looked after the wines and vineyards in Merfy.
