It's from Bryan Marx, heir to the Champagne Marx Coutelas, the new Domaine des Tuileries, project launched in 2018 and which takes the name named from the place where Bryan and his grandfather used to picnic on hot summer days, under an old acacia tree. It is 1.60 hectares selected from five of his favorite parcels, among the vineyards of the family Domaine in Venteuil, in the Vallée de la Marne.
The vines are about 30-40 years old and are divided into Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier, all grown on chalky and clayey soils with mainly southern exposure. The vineyards have been cultivated in organic conversion since 2019, with certification for the 2022 harvest. In the cellar, the wine vinifies and ages in oak barrels (1/3 are new wood), and the bottles rest in the natural chalk cellar in Venteuil, owned by the Coutelas family.
Bryan's goal is to create "cuvées coup de cœur", his free and personal interpretation of Champagne, departing from the more classic style of the family Domaine. The first harvest was that of 2019, and the international debut took place in 2022. A project judged to be forward-looking and exciting, which looks to the future but with firm roots in the heritage of knowledge that has been handed down to it.
