Champagne Rousseaux-Batteux
Cuve N°9 - Millésime 2018
The Champagne Cuvée N°9 by Rousseaux-Batteux elegantly expresses the character of Verzenay, a Grand Cru village of the Montagne de Reims, where the family has tended its vineyards for generations with artisanal care and deep respect for tradition. It comes from a selection of prestigious parcels in Verzenay and Louvois, chosen for their ability to convey finesse, energy and a precise mineral signature, in an interpretation that unites a strong sense of place with a contemporary sensibility.
This edition, Vintage 2018, is a blend of 65% Pinot Noir grapes from the Grand Cru villages of Louvois and Verzenay and 35% Chardonnay grown in Verzenay. The cuvée takes its name from the Domaine’s stainless steel tank n°9, where all of the vinification and fermentation takes place to preserve purity and precision of expression. After tirage, the wine ages on the lees for at least 36 months before dégorgement. A final dosage of 3-4 g/l, in Extra Brut style, brings out the wine’s tension and minerality.
On tasting, Cuvée N°9 opens on the nose with notes of ripe white fruit and citrus, joined by delicate floral hints, mineral touches and light pastry nuances that add to its complexity. On the palate it is taut and vibrant, supported by an elegant structure and a harmonious balance between freshness and depth, leading to a long, persistent finish that leaves a trail of great precision. Production in a limited run of 1968 bottles.
