The Champagne Le Bout du Clos 2018 by R.H. Coutier is a Blanc de Noirs made from 100% Pinot Noir, sourced from the eponymous Lieu-Dit planted in 1969 by René Coutier. Located near Ambonnay, a Grand Cru village in the Montagne de Reims, this vineyard represents one of the Domaine’s most emblematic parcels, capable of expressing an authentic and profound character, faithful to the history and substance of its terroir.
The cuvée comes from the 2018 harvest, vinified and initially aged in ceramic amphorae, a choice that enhances purity and mineral tension. After bottling, the wine matures for over six years on the lees, gaining complexity and aromatic finesse. The final Extra Brut dosage (1.5 g/l) highlights the stylistic precision and richness of Ambonnay’s terroir, offering a crisp and incisive interpretation of Pinot Noir.
On the palate, Le Bout du Clos reveals vibrant energy and refined elegance. The aromatic profile opens with notes of crisp red fruits, candied citrus, dried herbs, and chalky nuances that recall the purity of the soil. The taste shows solid structure, supported by crystalline freshness and deep minerality that amplify tension and length. The finish is clean, persistent, and full of personality.
