The Champagne Blanc de Blancs by Rousseaux-Batteux is an unconventional choice in the Montagne de Reims, a territory historically linked to Pinot Noir, giving space to Chardonnay grown in Grand Cru and Premier Cru classified villages. Here, among chalky soils and a cool climate that slows the ripening of the grapes, the variety develops a vibrant and luminous personality, far from the sunnier roundness of other areas of Champagne and focused on finesse, verticality and a marked mineral expression.

This edition, born from a balanced combination of the 2022 and 2023 harvests, is a Blanc de Blancs made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes, vinified and fermented mainly in fût de chêne to create a deep and harmonious cuvée that combines breadth and freshness. After tirage the wine ages for 24 months on the lees before dégorgement, while the final dosage of 3 g/l, in Extra Brut style, enhances the tension and clarity that distinguish the variety.

On tasting, it shows a brilliant straw-yellow colour with golden highlights and fine perlage, opening onto aromas of white flowers, yellow apple, ripe pear and citrus, accompanied by delicate hints of bread crust and almond. On the palate it is fresh and creamy, with a taut, slender structure balanced between fruit and minerality, extending into a savoury, clean and remarkably persistent finish. Production in a limited run of 2,650 bottles.
