Les Ronsures (Pinot Noir) 2020
The Champagne Les Ronsures Pinot Noir 2020 by Nicolas Maillart comes from a single parcel located in the Grand Cru of Bouzy, one of the benchmark areas of the Montagne de Reims for the expression of Pinot Noir. The lieu-dit Les Ronsures, planted in 1987 using massal selection, is cultivated with an environmentally respectful approach and embodies a deeply terroir-driven vision, in which the natural power of the grape variety is guided toward a precise, balanced expression free from superfluous intervention.
This Blanc de Noirs is made exclusively from Pinot Noir and is based on the 2020 harvest. Vinification takes place in oak barrels, with ageing on fine lees designed to build complexity and depth without sacrificing freshness or tension. The enological approach is deliberately restrained, with minimal intervention and a clear focus on preserving the vineyard’s most authentic expression. After tirage, the wine continues with at least 36 months of ageing on the lees. The absence of final dosage, in an Extra Brut style, directly and transparently highlights the identity of the terroir and the Pinot Noir, resulting in a Champagne of character, precision, and strong territorial imprint.
On tasting, Les Ronsures 2020 shows a decisive and layered profile. The nose reveals ripe red fruits, notes of plum, subtle spices, and delicate evolutionary nuances. On the palate, the structure is broad and cohesive, supported by precise acidity and a mineral texture that drives a deep, continuous progression. The finish is long, dry, and saline, delivering a Blanc de Noirs of strong personality, capable of combining energy, balance, and an authentic interpretation of Pinot Noir from Bouzy. Produced in a limited edition of just 3,402 bottles.
