Champagne Rousseaux-Batteux
Les Chauffours 2021
The Champagne Les Chauffours 2021 by Rousseaux-Batteux is a Blanc de Noirs from the eponymous lieu-dit, located in Verzenay Grand Cru, on the northern slopes of the Montagne de Reims. The Pinot Noir comes from two parcels planted in 1972 and 1973, covering a total surface of 0.24 hectares. Vineyard management excludes herbicides and insecticides, with natural grass cover and soil worked by draft horse, following a strategy of integrated pest control.
Fermentation and ageing take place in fût de chêne, without filtration or cold stabilization. After bottling for the prise de mousse, the wine rests for a minimum of 36 months on its lees, followed by dégorgement with no dosage, in Brut Nature style, to highlight the purity and expressiveness of the variety.
On the palate, Les Chauffours 2021 shows an intense and vertical profile, with notes of small red fruits, citrus and spicy nuances. The taste combines great precision, freshness, substance and a marked mineral imprint, finishing with persistence and harmony.
Production is limited and individually numbered, with only 950 bottles made.
