Today, these rare witnesses of history are shared through the Collection Trésor, a series of Champagnes that embody finesse, depth, and evolution, the purest expression of the Maison’s identity across its most extraordinary vintages.
The Champagne Collection Trésor 1996 by Boizel is a Blanc de Blancs made entirely from 100% Chardonnay sourced from the Grands and Premiers Crus of the Côte des Blancs. The 1996 vintage is remembered as one of the most exceptional of the century, marked by a harsh winter and an unsettled spring, followed by a more favorable summer that led to an outstanding harvest. The perfect balance between phenolic maturity and vibrant acidity bestowed both harmony and longevity — hallmarks of great vintages for ageing. Vinified in stainless steel, the wine was aged for 26 years on its lees and recently disgorged, with a dosage of 3 g/l (Extra Brut), sealing a style of remarkable purity, precision, and brightness.
On tasting, Collection Trésor 1996 displays a brilliant golden hue and a fine, lively effervescence. The bouquet is broad and expressive, dominated by notes of acacia, candied fruit, and dried apricot, enriched with hints of toasted almond and lemon zest. On the palate, it reveals a creamy, extraordinarily silky texture, where the generosity of the fruit intertwines with nuances of candied orange, forest floor, and a vibrant minerality. The finish, long and refined, combines intensity and delicacy, showcasing the full maturity of a great Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs — a Champagne that has gracefully stood the test of time with depth and elegance.
