Les Monts Ferrés 2019
The Champagne Les Monts Ferrés 2019 by Leclerc Briant is a Blanc de Blancs from a 0.60-hectare parcel located in the Premier Cru village of Vertus, in the Côte des Blancs. The Chardonnay vines, planted in 1981 on fine- to medium-textured calcareous soils, benefit from a southeast exposure that promotes both fruit ripeness and mineral tension in perfect balance.
The 2019 vintage, generous and sunlit, highlights a structure that is both enveloping and precise. Vinification and maturation for nine months in oak barrels impart depth and roundness, while at least 60 months of ageing on the lees enhance harmony and complexity. The dosage of 5.5 g/l, in Extra Brut style, preserves freshness and purity of expression, achieving a perfect equilibrium between mineral tension and gustatory richness.
On the palate, Les Monts Ferrés 2019 displays an intense yellow hue with lemon reflections, animated by a fine and continuous mousse. The nose combines maturity and finesse, revealing notes of almond, black licorice, chalk dust, verbena, acacia blossom, and buttercup. With aeration, the profile becomes sunnier, unfolding aromas of candied lemon, seaweed, white peach, candied grape, brioche, fresh hazelnut, milk caramel, and subtle toasted nuances. The palate is juicy and caressing, enlivened by perfectly integrated citrus acidity. The finish, soft and harmonious, melts gracefully on the palate, revealing exceptional finesse and coherence.
