Villers-Marmery 2019
The Champagne Villers-Marmery by Boizel highlights a singular enclave in the eastern part of the Montagne de Reims, where, in a territory dominated by Pinot Noir, Chardonnay reigns supreme on east-facing slopes and pure chalk soils that bring freshness and tension. This Blanc de Blancs springs from the single-cru project of the sixth generation, an exercise in precision that isolates a single village to reveal its most crystalline identity, the one that has always quietly enriched the blends of the Maison.
This edition, Vintage 2019, expresses Chardonnay in its purest interpretation, grown exclusively in the village of Villers-Marmery, classified Premier Cru, where the vines grow between 140 and 180 metres of altitude on a terroir of integral chalk. Vinification and maturation take place entirely in stainless steel tanks, a choice that excludes any influence of wood and preserves the clarity of the cru, and after the tirage comes an ageing of around five years on the lees, lending depth and complexity. The final dosage, in an Extra Brut style, accompanies its natural elegance.
On the palate, Villers-Marmery 2019 reveals a pale gold robe shot through with delicate greenish reflections and a lively brilliance, heralded by a fine and persistent perlage that traces an elegant bead. The texture proves both fleshy and refined, supported by a beautiful acidity and a precise minerality that lend momentum and verticality. The finish, long and taut, prolongs the sensation of freshness and rare elegance, leaving an impression of great purity. Production in a limited run of 2,000 bottles.
