The Champagne Les Coullemets 2016 by Guy Charlemagne is a rigorous single-parcel expression of the terroir of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, a benchmark Grand Cru village of the Côte des Blancs. The Les Coullemets lieu-dit is planted with Chardonnay from old vines over 55 years of age, deeply rooted in pure chalk, a geological matrix that imparts tension, precision, and depth. This cuvée reflects the Domaine’s classic, terroir-driven vision, focused on expressing both vintage and origin without stylistic mediation.

This 2016 vintage edition is vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with malolactic fermentation carried out. After bottling, the wine undergoes lees ageing for at least 90 months, a crucial stage in building complexity, harmony, and expressive continuity. The final Extra Brut dosage guides the wine toward a balanced and measured profile, fully respectful of the vintage’s natural structure.

On tasting, Les Coullemets 2016 shows a bright yellow colour with golden highlights. The nose opens with notes of pineapple, candied orange, star anise, and sweet spices, forming a broad and layered aromatic profile. On the palate, white fruit, peach, and plum emerge, evolving into raisin and candied nuances, supported by a fresh and precise texture. The structure is firm yet agile, the finish long and coherent, with a citrus-driven finale that closes with balance and clarity.
