Champagne Rousseaux-Batteux
Le Mont 2021
The Champagne Le Mont 2021 by Rousseaux-Batteux is a Blanc de Noirs made from Pinot Noir, sourced from the namesake lieu-dit located in Louvois Grand Cru, on the southern slopes of the Montagne de Reims. The parcel, planted in 1961, covers 0.23 hectares and is farmed without the use of herbicides or insecticides, with cover cropping and horse-drawn soil work, following a sustainable pest management approach.
The vinification involves alcoholic fermentation and aging in fût de chêne. Bottling is carried out without filtration or cold stabilization, allowing for the formation of a light natural sediment that does not affect the wine’s quality. This is followed by 36 months of lees aging, before a final Extra Brut dosage of less than 3 g/l.
On the palate, Le Mont 2021 displays a deep and structured profile, with notes of small red fruits, spicy nuances, and a subtle mineral vein. The mouthfeel is broad and harmonious, supported by delicate tannins and an elegant persistence.
A limited and numbered production of just 950 bottles.
