La Grande Ruelle 2008
The Champagne La Grande Ruelle 2008 represents one of the most intimate and long-lived expressions of Gonet-Médeville’s style, crafted by Xavier Gonet as a tribute to the Pinot Noir of Ambonnay, a renowned Grand Cru village in the Montagne de Reims. The grapes, carefully selected from the eponymous Lieu-Dit and grown according to sustainable principles, give life to a pure Blanc de Noirs that reflects the identity of the terroir with finesse and depth, capturing the vintage in a frame of rare elegance.
Vinification takes place in used barriques, through spontaneous fermentations, with no fining or filtration, in line with the Domaine’s artisanal and non-interventionist approach. The wine then ages for over 13 years on the lees, with late disgorgement to enhance its aromatic and structural complexity. The Extra Brut dosage (less than 3 g/l) emphasizes the wine’s expressive tension and delivers a pure, vertical interpretation of the 2008 vintage.
On the palate, La Grande Ruelle 2008 reveals a deep and multi-layered bouquet, interweaving notes of red berries, sweet spices, graphite, and balsamic accents. The mouthfeel is dense and finely chiselled, sustained by a vibrant, saline tension that extends its persistence.
