The Coteaux Champenois Rouge 2020 by Les Frères Mignon is a rare expression of the still wine tradition in Champagne, crafted from 100% Pinot Noir hand-harvested from selected vines around Damery, in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne. The 2020 vintage, marked by favorable weather and excellent phenolic ripeness, allowed for the vinification of healthy, concentrated grapes—perfect for a red wine of strong character.
Vinification involves a whole-cluster maceration lasting about 14 days, a technique that preserves the fruit’s freshness and enhances the wine’s tannic structure. The wine then undergoes 24 months of aging in wooden barrels, gaining depth and complexity while gently integrating the varietal notes. Bottling took place in September 2022, sealing a production process defined by patience and respect for the raw material.
On the palate, this Coteaux Champenois Rouge reveals itself as intense and refined, with aromas of red berries, spicy nuances, and earthy undertones. The mouthfeel is streamlined and precise, supported by fine tannins and an elegant finish. A rare and identity-driven wine, it authentically conveys the quiet soul of Champagne.
