Coteaux Champenois Geoffroy
Cumières Rouge
The Côteaux Champenois Cumières Rouge by Geoffroy is born from the historic tradition of the still red wines of Cumières, a Premier Cru village of the Vallée de la Marne where Pinot Noir finds one of its most authentic expressions. On soils where chalk and clay alternate, the old vines give rise to a red of striking identity, able to translate the warmth and privileged exposure of this terroir into the morello cherry note that stands as its unmistakable signature, in a winemaking story that revives Champagne's ancient calling for still wines.
This "multi millésime" edition is born from the blending of several vintages from Pinot Noir grapes drawn from the old vines and carefully selected. Vinification takes place in open oak vats with an immersed cap, followed by twenty-four months of maturation between casks and barriques. The malolactic fermentation occurs in barrique, and the wine undergoes neither fining nor filtration, fully preserving its substance and the imprint of its terroir.
On tasting, the Cumières Rouge presents an intense, bright red robe that foreshadows a profile of great clarity. The nose is typical of the Pinot Noirs of the Cumières terroir, run through by a marked presence of morello cherry in its liveliest griotte shade. On the palate the structure reveals a soft and refined balance, where the flesh of red fruits intertwines with silky, delicate tannins, sustained by a freshness that lengthens the palate and prolongs its persistence into a harmonious, finely chiselled finish.
