Cumières Millésime 2018
The Champagne Cumières Millésime 2018 by Les Freres Mignon is the result of a Pinot Noir-dominant blend, completed with Meunier and Chardonnay, sourced from a single vineyard near the village of Cumières, in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne. The 2018 vintage was marked by a regular growing season and a warm, dry summer, which led to an early and optimal ripening. The grapes, harvested in perfect sanitary conditions, yielded wines of generous structure, with a rich aromatic profile and a freshness that remains clearly present.
Vinification is carried out entirely in stainless steel, in order to preserve the purity of the fruit and highlight the soil’s mineral identity. The extended lees ageing for 48 months sculpts a deep and creamy texture, while the minimal dosage of 1.6 g/l - Extra Brut - reflects the strict and transparent style embraced by brothers Florent and Julien. The wine is neither clarified nor filtered, a choice that reflects an artisanal and essential approach, aimed at preserving the integrity of the raw material.
On the palate, Cumières Millésime 2018 reveals a complex and vibrant character, with a bouquet ranging from ripe peach, yellow apple, and candied citrus, to hints of hazelnut, bread crust, and a subtle smoky touch. The mouthfeel is enveloping, supported by a fine and dynamic mousse, leading to a broad and layered evolution. The finish is precise and mineral, with a saline persistence that highlights its origin and style.
