Spécial Club "Vauzelle" 2017
The Champagne Spécial Club “Vauzelle” by Gaston Chiquet reveals the rarest and most refined side of Chardonnay from the Grand Cru village of Aÿ, a historic village in the Grande Vallée de la Marne traditionally associated with Pinot Noir. It comes from the single parcel Vauzelle Crohau, a south-facing lieu-dit where the grape variety takes on an original, tense and luminous profile, combining finesse, depth and a highly precise expression of terroir.
This edition, Millésime 2017, is made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes. Vinification and fermentation follow the precise approach of the Chiquet family, aimed at preserving aromatic clarity, balance and the identity of the cru. After tirage, the wine ages on the lees for at least 72 months, gaining complexity and texture without weighing down the profile. The final dosage, in Extra Brut style, enhances expressive purity, energy and mineral definition.
In tasting, Spécial Club “Vauzelle” 2017 reveals an elegant and layered profile, with notes of candied citrus, white flowers, fresh almond, chalk and mineral hints, followed by nuances of hazelnut, fresh butter and delicate honey. On the palate it shows precision, incisive freshness and a fine, creamy mousse, with a savoury texture leading to a long, clean and deeply terroir-driven finish.
