Les Harengs 2022
The Champagne Les Harengs by Bonnaire is a Blanc de Blancs produced in Bergères-les-Vertus, a Premier Cru village in the southern sector of the Côte des Blancs, conceived as a parcel-specific and rigorous interpretation of Chardonnay rooted in its terroir. The lieu-dit Les Harengs, defined by chalky soils with calcareous components, combines finesse, tension, and depth, reflecting the Domaine’s vision focused on expressive precision, respect for vineyard identity, and an authentic reading of place.
This edition, Millésime 2022, is crafted exclusively from Chardonnay grapes sourced from the single parcel. The vinification seeks a balance between stainless steel and oak barrels (fût de chêne), a choice designed to support the wine’s maturation without overshadowing its varietal and mineral profile. After bottling, the wine undergoes lees aging for over 36 months, developing complexity and integration. The final Extra Brut dosage, around 4 g/l, underscores a restrained and essential style.
In tasting, Les Harengs 2022 reveals a taut, precise profile with a pronounced mineral character. The aromatic spectrum evokes ripe citrus, crisp apple, white flowers, and subtle chalky nuances, supported by an elegant undertone of hazelnut and fine evolutionary notes. On the palate, it is vertical, driven by well-integrated acidity that guides its progression. The structure is slender yet present, the finish long and saline, with an overall balance that favors clarity, depth, and expressive precision.
