The Champagne Avize Millésime by Hélène comes from old vines in the Grand Cru village of Avize, in the central part of the Côte des Blancs, an area renowned for its ability to give Chardonnay remarkable mineral depth, tension and precision. The old vines, rooted in the village’s characteristic chalk soils, deliver an intense and luminous interpretation of the terroir, while Pierre Hugot’s approach focuses on preserving authenticity and balance through respectful viticulture and an essential style of winemaking.

This edition, Millésime 2017, is interpreted through spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts and maturation divided between stainless steel and wood, a choice that slowly guides the wine’s evolution while preserving its energy and mineral definition. After tirage, the wine undergoes a minimum of 72 months ageing on the lees, contributing greater depth, aromatic complexity and continuity on the palate. The final dosage of 3 g/l, in Extra Brut style, preserves a saline, vertical and particularly precise expression of Avize Chardonnay.

In tasting, Avize Millésime 2017 reveals aromas of ripe citrus, lemon zest, white apple, white flowers and delicate hints of brioche and fresh almond. On the palate, the texture is taut and elegant, supported by a pronounced chalky imprint that leads into a long, savoury and remarkably pure mineral finish. The total production is 5000 bottles.
