Les Plantes d'Oger 2021

The Champagne "Les Plantes d'Oger" by Adrien-Dhondt is born from a single parcel in the lieu-dit of the same name, in the Grand Cru of Oger, where old vines cultivated biodynamically with deliberately low yields occupy the mid-slope with an east-facing exposure on deeply chalky soils. A context that imprints verticality, tension and a vibrant and recognisable minerality onto the wine, perfectly coherent with the vision of Adrien Dhondt, one of the most compelling names of the new Champenois generation.

This Troisième édition, harvest 2021, is born from spontaneous fermentation in barrique followed by 8 months of ageing on the fine lees without fining or filtration, with malolactic fermentation carried out to harmonise the natural acidity of Oger Chardonnay. After the tirage, the wine ages on the lees for approximately 36 months. The final dosage of 5 g/l, in Extra Brut style, preserves the purity of the terroir intact, leaving fruit and minerality to take centre stage.

In the glass, it opens with a bright golden yellow hue and a fine and persistent perlage. On the nose lemon zest, white flowers and fresh almond emerge alongside mineral hints of chalk and wet stone, with a light boisé touch that enriches without weighing things down. On the palate it is taut, saline and deep, with a well-integrated freshness and a fruit ripeness that balances the mineral energy through to a long, pure and finely chiselled finish. Production in a limited run of 1,638 bottles, 30 magnums and 5 Jéroboams.
