The Champagne Les CrĂŞtes by Sadi Malot is a Blanc de Blancs born from a rare calling, that of Chardonnay grown on the chalky soils of Villers-Marmery, a Premier Cru village on the eastern slope of the Montagne de Reims. In a land historically tied to Pinot Noir, this wine celebrates the finesse and luminosity of the white variety, translating with precision the mineral depth of the chalk and offering a taut, vertical expression of great elegance.
This edition, from the 2022 harvest, is enriched by a 15% share of vin de réserve drawn from a solera system, which grants it complexity and stylistic continuity, while the vinification and maturation in large casks enhance its finesse and depth. After the tirage follows an ageing of at least 30 months on the lees, before a final dosage of 4.5 g/l, in Extra Brut style, a measure that keeps the wine's freshness and expressive purity fully intact.
On the palate, Les CrĂŞtes shows a character that is at once deep and luminous, where the chalky thread guides an aromatic range spanning from ripe citrus to white flowers, through to a refined hint of toasted hazelnut of rare finesse. The mineral freshness draws a slender, precise profile, where acidity and salinity chase one another in a clear balance and lead towards a long, vertical finish of remarkable saline persistence.
