Les Blanches Voies 2013
The Champagne Les Blanches Voies by Vilmart celebrates the luminous purity of Chardonnay in its chosen homeland, the Premier Cru of Rilly-la-Montagne, where the eponymous lieu-dit stretches across soils farmed in full respect of the natural balance, with vines that are over sixty years old. The result is a Blanc de Blancs of rare depth and finesse, able to translate with singular clarity the chalky soul of this terroir into a wine of great tension and elegance.
This edition, Vintage 2013, undergoes vinification and maturation for ten months in 228-litre oak pièces, with malolactic fermentation deliberately not carried out so as to preserve freshness, mineral drive and aromatic precision throughout its development. After tirage comes an ageing of more than seven years on the lees, while the final dosage of 4 g/l, in an Extra Brut style, outlines a taut and precise profile of remarkable finesse and overall balance.
On the palate, Les Blanches Voies 2013 reveals a chiselled and vibrant profile, where the chalky texture and citrus freshness intertwine with delicate nuances of white flowers and refined pâtisserie, forming a whole of great poise and harmony. On the palate it wins over with its balance between mineral energy and breadth, with a firm, finely drawn structure that leads toward a long and persistent finish, where the saline tension elegantly prolongs the aromatic echo.
