The Champagne Spécial Club by Arnaud Margaine is the family's most precious Blanc de Blancs, a wine that carries within it the soul of Villers-Marmery, a singular Chardonnay enclave classified Premier Cru within the Montagne de Reims. It is precisely here, in the so-called Perle Blanche, that the variety meets a clay and limestone terroir which heightens its finesse and precision, giving rise to an élite cuvée belonging to the prestigious circle of the Spécial Club.

This edition, Vintage 2018, was born from the careful selection of the Domaine's finest parcels, in particular from the lieux-dits Alouettes, Broccots and Montmédy, with vinification and maturation in stainless steel tanks alongside 40% in oak barrels. After the tirage comes a minimum of six years of ageing on the lees, while the final dosage of 8 g/l, in a Brut style, rounds out its definition and depth with balanced measure.

On tasting, Spécial Club 2018 reveals great aromatic finesse, enlivened by a pleasant vivacity that brings to the nose pronounced iodine and briny notes, enriched by an elegant mineral base of remarkable refinement. On the palate it wins over with enveloping citrus hints of mandarin and lemon, sustained by a broad and generous structure that leads towards a savoury, taut finish of long persistence, where freshness and depth find a truly impeccable balance. Production in a limited run of 3,800 bottles.

Arnaud Margaine's Champagnes have very deep origins, a long history that has reached the fifth generation of artisan vigneron, who since 1910 has handed down from father to son the know-how of a production strongly linked to the terroir and quality. In Villers-Marmery, in the heart of Montagne de Reims, the Domaine A. Margaine is located, with vineyards facing south/south-east on a territory classified as Premier Cru and where, unlike what normally happens with Pinot Noir, it is Chardonnay that is the real master, with a real "island" in the heart of Montagne de Reims.

Only Chardonnay and a small part of Pinot Noir are cultivated by Margaine vignerons, who have chosen a conscious viticulture and as natural as possible, reducing the use of herbicides on 90% of their vineyards. The winemaking techniques are also based on respect, with the aim of making the grapes work in the most natural ways possible and according to times that vary according to the vintage.

Since 1976 Champagne A. Margaine is part of the Club Trésor de Champagne, the first association of vignerons born in Champagne and committed to preserving the values of high quality and respect for the terroir. The Cuvée Special Club, the jewel in the crown of the whole A. Margaine production, is a witness of this firm conviction and heritage handed down from five generations.
