Champagne Boizel
Collection Trésor 1985
Since its foundation in 1834, the Boizel family has carefully preserved in its Trésor cellars a selection of bottles from the most remarkable vintages — a living memory of tradition and time. Today, these treasures are shared through the Collection Trésor, a series of archive Champagnes that celebrate the depth and evolution of great harvests. The 1985 and 1990 vintages are the first to be released, symbolizing a long legacy of excellence and a savoir-faire passed down through generations.
The Champagne Collection Trésor 1985 by Boizel was born from a memorable vintage, which began with a harsh winter and a rainy spring, followed by a warm, sunny summer that allowed the grapes to reach exceptional ripeness and quality, harvested in early October. The blend combines 45% Pinot Noir (Mailly, Aÿ, Bisseuil), 40% Chardonnay (Avize, Chouilly), and 15% Meunier (Cumières). After an extraordinary 37-year ageing on the lees, completed with a late disgorgement in 2023, the wine achieved remarkable depth and complexity, further enhanced by an Extra Brut dosage (3 g/l) that preserves its purity and elegance.
On tasting, Collection Trésor 1985 reveals a deep golden hue with amber highlights and an exquisitely fine perlage, a testament to its long evolution. The bouquet is of exceptional breadth and complexity, opening with aromas of acacia honey, toasted hazelnut, dried fruits, and candied citrus, followed by nuances of white truffle, beeswax, and spiced bread. On the palate, it shows a velvety texture and a harmonious balance between freshness and maturity, with layers of dried yellow fruit, orange zest, roasted notes, and a finely etched minerality that imparts tension and vibrancy. The finish, long and noble, weaves together elegant oxidative tones and saline persistence, expressing the authentic voice of a great Champagne perfectly matured over time.
