The Champagne N°2 Montagne de Reims by Vincent Cuillier is a Blanc de Blancs produced in Villers-Marmery, at the heart of the Montagne de Reims, conceived as a clear and rigorous interpretation of Chardonnay grown on soils with a strong calcareous imprint, interspersed with variable sandy components depending on the plots. The vineyards, laid out on well-exposed slopes, promote balanced ripening and fine aromatic definition, delivering a profile that prioritises tension, clarity of expression, and terroir precision. The N°2 cuvée fits within a stylistic approach focused on the full readability of the grape variety, free from superstructures or interpretative excess.

This 2021 vintage is made exclusively from 100% Chardonnay and undergoes a mixed vinification and ageing, with 90% of the wines aged in stainless-steel tanks and 10% in oak barrels, a deliberate choice aimed at introducing measured micro-oxygenation without compromising varietal purity. After tirage, the wine is aged on the lees for at least 36 months. The Extra Brut dosage is carefully calibrated to support balance between freshness, precision, and complexity.

On tasting, N°2 Montagne de Reims shows a bright pale yellow colour, highlighted by silvery reflections and a fine, regular bead. The aromatic profile is fresh and precise, with notes of apple, pear, and citrus, followed by white flowers, hints of zest, and a subtle biscuit-like nuance; oak remains discreet in the background, offering delicate touches of hazelnut and light vanilla. On the palate, the attack is clean and taut, the mid-palate unfolds with a silky texture, supported by a chalky, mineral framework. The finish is long, fresh, and gently saline, with a dry, precise close that reflects the energy and linearity of the 2021 vintage.
