Bouzy Rouge 2020
The Coteaux Champenois Bouzy Rouge by Paul Bara comes from the prestigious Grand Cru village of Bouzy, on the southern slopes of the Montagne de Reims, an area historically celebrated for some of the most structured and profound expressions of Pinot Noir. This red wine offers a faithful and rigorous reading of its own terroir, where the savoir-faire of a family-run Domaine translates into a still wine able to tell the story of Champagne beyond its bubbles, revealing the most authentic and territorial dimension of the grape.
This edition, from the 2020 harvest, comes exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes grown in selected parcels in Bouzy. Vinification and maturation follow a traditional approach, with fermentation in stainless steel and subsequent ageing in wood designed to build structure and complexity without weighing down the varietal profile, according to a philosophy that favours balance, precision and expressive clarity while allowing vintage and soil to define the character of the wine.
In tasting, Bouzy Rouge 2020 shows an intense ruby red hue, with a nose marked by ripe red fruit, from cherry to redcurrant, completed by spicy nuances and subtle earthy hints. On the palate the structure proves firm yet measured, supported by fine, well-integrated tannins and by a natural freshness that brings energy and depth, while the finish stretches out coherently and closes in balance, reflecting with precision the identity of Pinot Noir from Bouzy in its still expression.
