Champagne Paul Bara
Grand Rosé
The Champagne Grand Rosé by Paul Bara speaks of Bouzy, a Grand Cru village from the Montagne de Reims where Pinot Noir reaches a rare fullness and brings colour, depth and drive together in a single voice, and it is from this vocation that the idea of a measured rosé d'assemblage takes shape. The Domaine reads the style as an exercise in balance, where the intensity of colour is never an aim in itself but the natural consequence of a village whose red wines have enjoyed a reputation built over generations.
This edition brings together 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay grapes with the addition of around 12% vin rouge de Bouzy, an element that sets the hue and enriches the aromatic profile with a deeper shade. Vinification and maturation take place entirely in stainless steel, so as to preserve the freshness and clarity of the fruit, while after tirage comes an ageing on the lees of at least 30 months that lends compactness and precision to the style.
On tasting, Grand Rosé shows a bright and intense pink hue crossed by a fine and persistent perlage, while the nose opens on wild strawberry, cherry and pomegranate, followed by floral hints and a delicate, lightly spiced touch. On the palate it is ample, fresh and finely structured, with a compact and vibrant texture that carries the fruity echoes towards a long and harmonious finish, holding its tension and clarity right through to the close.
