Coteaux Champenois Grethen
Boréas 2022
The Coteaux Champenois Boréas by Grethen takes its name from the north wind of Greek mythology and completes the family of cuvées dedicated to the winds through which this small family Domaine from Brouillet, in the Vallée de l'Ardre, tells the story of its terroir. The Meunier grapes come from Au Dessus du Village (lieu-dit), where east-facing vines of around 55 years, rooted in clay-limestone soils and farmed according to organic principles, give life to an authentic and surprising red.
This edition, from the 2022 harvest, comes from a sunny and generous year that brought the grapes to full and harmonious ripeness, the ideal condition for a still red of great expressiveness. Vinification and fermentation take place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, followed by 24 months of maturation in fût de chêne that patiently accompanies the wine, in line with a minimal-intervention philosophy that respects the purity of the fruit and the natural rhythm of the cellar.
On tasting, Boréas 2022 shows a light, luminous ruby dress, opening onto a fragrant nose in which cherry, raspberry and small red fruits weave into nuances of sweet spice, undergrowth and a delicate earthy note. On the palate the texture is slender and juicy, supported by fine tannins and a lively freshness that stretches the flavour development towards a saline, harmonious finish of fine persistence. Production in a limited run of 800 bottles.
