Bouzy Rouge "Les Mignottes" 2022
The Coteaux Champenois Bouzy Rouge "Les Mignottes" by Pierre Paillard is a red wine that tells the oldest story of Champagne, that of a territory where at the end of the 14th century the Burgundian Pinot Noir found an elective land, building the reputation of the region even before the discovery of the bubbles. The philosophy of the cuvée is to restore the pride of an era through a single lieu-dit of the Grand Cru village of Bouzy, where old vines of over forty-five years express finesse, depth and balance in a Pinot Noir of rare seduction.
This edition, from the 2022 harvest, is born exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes from the lieu-dit Les Mignottes, vinified with maceration of destemmed bunches for about fifteen days. Maturation takes place in 228-litre oak barrels for twelve months, before bottling which preserves its expressive clarity.
On tasting, the wine appears with a luminous ruby red hue and a deep bouquet of red fruits, ripe cherry and a subtle spiciness. On the palate it surprises with natural sweetness and delicacy, where the silky matter merges with a very fine and perfectly integrated tannic texture, sustained by a clear-cut acidity that brings drive and drinkability. The finish is long, elegant and harmonious, with a flavoursome persistence that confirms the rare finesse of the Pinot Noir from Bouzy. Production in a limited run of 2,616 bottles.
