Les Terres Blues

The Champagne Les Terres Bleues by Domaine Nowack represents a masterful expression of Meunier, a grape often underestimated yet here reaching remarkable levels of refinement and complexity. Sourced from a single parcel planted in 1975 near the village of Vandière, in the Vallée de la Marne, it originates from fossil-rich limestone soils that give the wine deep minerality and exceptional energy. The distinctive bluish soil, rich in clay and marl, defines the identity of the cuvée and inspires its name.

This edition, 2022 harvest, is the result of a natural vinification with spontaneous fermentations and a maturation of around ten months in oak barrels. An artisanal and terroir-driven approach, signature of Flavien Nowack, that enhances the expressive purity and the unique character of Meunier. After bottling with a cork closure, the wine rests for at least 30 months on its lees. Zero final dosage, in Brut Nature style, brings freshness and precision to the palate.

On the palate, Les Terres Bleues stands out for its broad and multifaceted aromatic profile, where notes of ripe red fruits, spicy nuances, and floral hints intertwine, leading to a mineral and savory finish that invites another sip. Its energy and vibrancy make it a Champagne of strong personality, capable of delivering a memorable sensory experience.

Nowack

Founded in 1795 in the village of Vandières, in the Vallée de la Marne, Domaine Nowack has been run since 2011 by Flavien Nowack, who grew up among the family’s vines and trained with experience in Burgundy, including a period in Meursault at Coche-Dury. Today, he is regarded as one of the most interesting voices of the new generation of Champagne vignerons.

His winemaking philosophy focuses on single-parcel vinifications (Lieu-dit), with separate fermentations and maturations to highlight the nuances of each terroir. In the vineyard, he follows an organic approach, with no chaptalisation or malolactic fermentation, and uses indigenous yeasts for the prise de mousse. A distinctive feature is the use of unfermented grape must for the second fermentation, resulting in slightly lower bottle pressure and a marked silky vinosity.

Alongside the Lieu-dit range, Flavien has created the "Cru d’Origine" line, dedicated to exploring individual villages, using both estate-grown fruit and grapes from selected organic growers. The first edition was dedicated to his native village of Vandières. A young talent with a clear vision, Flavien combines technical precision, respect for nature, and a quest for the purest expression of terroir.
