Champagne Maurice Choppin
La Carrelle
The Champagne La Carrelle by Maurice Choppin tells the story of a historic parcel in Binson-et-Orquigny, in the Vallée de la Marne, where vines planted in 1976 and farmed through massal selection give rise to a Blanc de Noirs with strong identity. The lieu-dit La Carrelle rests on clay-silt soils with fossil shells, a feature that enhances an authentic expression deeply connected to its terroir.
This edition, harvest 2022, is made from equal parts Pinot Noir and Meunier, with vinification and maturation in fût de chêne bringing structure and complexity without overwhelming the wine’s profile. After tirage, it undergoes at least 30 months on the lees, encouraging integration and depth while preserving tension and energy. The final dosage of 1 g/l, in Extra Brut style, completes the balance with precision.
On tasting, La Carrelle 2022 reveals aromas of ripe fruit, citrus, light spice and chalky nuances. On the palate it combines volume and freshness, with a savory texture supporting the core and a long, clean, well-balanced finish that precisely reflects the character of the parcel.
