The Champagne Causica by Lointier is a Blanc de Noirs entirely devoted to Meunier, a variety that here finds one of its most airy and characterful interpretations, far from the round and broad profiles often associated with this grape. The grapes come from the oldest Meunier vines of the Domaine, rooted in the lieu-dit "Les Cailleaux" near the village of Brasles, in the western part of the Vallée de la Marne, where the brown soils of limestone and rich clay, worked biodynamically, imprint on the wine a dynamic between fruit and salt that defines its deepest identity.

This edition, based on the 2022 harvest, is vinified and matured for eleven months half in used barriques, whose wood comes from the estate's own forest, and half in terracotta amphorae, without malolactic fermentation or filtration, a choice that brings depth and complexity while preserving the freshness and purity of the fruit. After tirage comes an ageing of over 24 months on its own lees, at the end of which the final dosage of 1.5 g/l, in an Extra Brut style, preserves its balance and tension, expressing the character of the terroir with authenticity.

On the palate, Causica has an enveloping aromatic profile, with indulgent notes of sponge cake and peach cream enhanced by an intriguing smoky hint, followed by suggestions of crisp apple, red berries and a delicate minty nuance. The palate is solid and refined, built on the contrast between measured vinosity, lively acidity and herbaceous touches, with an evolution that starts intense and gradually refines itself, closing on a long, taut and chalky finish that combines depth and freshness with great elegance.
