The Champagne Carrés du Midi by Gamet stems from a vision that places the terroir of Mardeuil at its heart, on the Rive Gauche of the Vallée de la Marne, where this lieu-dit planted in 1969 on clay-limestone soils rich in minerality tells the story of a winemaking philosophy attuned to the rhythm of nature. The result sincerely expresses the character of a unique parcel and the deep bond linking Pinot Noir to an authentic elegance rooted in its place of origin.
This edition, Vintage 2020, involves vinification and maturation for ten months in oak barrels, with spontaneous fermentation from indigenous yeasts. After the tirage comes a minimum ageing of 48 months on the lees, with a final dosage of 1 g/l, in an Extra Brut style, enhancing to the fullest the depth and finesse of the wine.
On the palate, Carrés du Midi 2020 reveals a refined balance between richness and delicacy, with a broad and enveloping structure sustained by a vibrant freshness that shapes its profile. The texture is creamy and mineral, run through by a chalky tension that lends drive and dynamism. The persistence is remarkable and profound, leaving a clean and harmonious sensation that bears witness to the great completeness of this single-parcel wine. Production in a limited run of 1,520 bottles.
