Champagne Maurice Choppin
Damery 2019
The Champagne Damery by Maurice Choppin reflects the terroir of Damery, crafted with an artisanal approach and deep respect for nature. Produced from old vines through massal selection, it is based on a blend of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Meunier, varieties that bring balance between finesse and expressiveness. The chalky soil, marked by outcropping chalk, gives the wine a vibrant minerality and unmistakable freshness.
This edition, harvest 2019, is made through vinification in oak barrels with spontaneous fermentations driven by indigenous yeasts and a naturally occurring malolactic fermentation. After tirage, it undergoes over 50 months on the lees, enriching its aromatic profile and structure, while maturation under cork helps preserve depth and expression. Its Brut Nature style, with no dosage, highlights the purity of the grapes and an authentic expression of the vintage.
On the palate, it shows a bright golden color, while the nose reveals refined aromas of white-fleshed fruit, citrus, white flowers and delicate toasted notes. It is elegant and vibrant, with a fine and persistent mousse that enhances freshness and a marked salinity. The finish is long and precise, with a creamy texture balanced by excellent mineral tension.
