Le Walin Millésime 2019
The Champagne Le Walin Millésime 2019 by Grethen comes from 100% Pinot Noir harvested in the lieu-dit “Le Walin”, located near the village of Brouillet, in the heart of the Vallée de l’Ardre. This edition, Millésime 2019, interprets the character of the site in a rigorous and terroir-driven way, offering a Blanc de Noirs of great purity and intensity.
Vinification and maturation take place for 36 months in fût de chêne, followed by a further 36 months on the lees after tirage. The winemaking approach is minimal: reduced sulphites (30 mg/l), no fining, no filtration, and no final dosage – Brut Nature (0 g/l) – to preserve the precision, energy, and authenticity of Pinot Noir.
In tasting, Le Walin presents itself as deep and essential, with an aromatic profile opening on notes of dark cherry, blackcurrant, blood orange zest, nuances of dried flowers, and light hints of sweet spices from the long period in wood. On the palate it is incisive, dense yet taut, with a structure that combines substance and verticality. The mineral tension is clear and runs through the entire tasting, while the persistence is long and layered, with returns of red fruits, ripe citrus, and an elegant smoky touch, a distinctive trait of the Domaine’s style.
