Coteaux Champenois Grethen
Zephyr 2022
The Côteaux Champenois Blanc Zephyr by A. Grethen is a still white wine made from 100% Meunier originating from the lieu-dit “Les Vignes de la Vallée” in Brouillet, in the Vallée de l’Ardre. The vines, rooted in clay-limestone soils and with an average age of 46 years, offer raw material that is intense and deeply connected to the territory.
For this edition, the 2022 harvest was followed by natural fermentation and an extended ageing of 36 months in fût de chêne, a process that shapes structure, aromatic complexity, and a refined oxidative component before bottling.
In tasting, Zephyr 2022 expresses itself with finesse and depth. On the nose, notes of ripe yellow apple, fresh almond, lemon zest, hints of white flowers, and a slight smoky nuance from the long period in wood emerge. On the palate it is broad, sapid, crossed by an incisive mineral tension that gives balance to the material. The texture is precise, the progression vibrant, and the persistence long and layered, with citrus echoes and hints of dried fruit accompanying the final length. Production is extremely limited, with only 300 bottles.
