La Libertine

The Champagne La Libertine by Doyard is the result of more than ten years of research, born from the desire to recreate the taste profile of the very first sparkling Champagnes of the 18th century. A unique cuvée, crafted exclusively from Chardonnay grapes – a true Blanc de Blancs – conceived to evoke the style of the origins, far removed from any contemporary reference and intended to accompany moments of sharing at any hour of the day or night.

The blend combines four to five different vintages, with over twelve years of aging on the lees. The deliberately more delicate effervescence (around 4 bar) integrates with a high dosage of 65 g/l, balanced by a fresh and elegant finish. The liqueur de dosage is prepared from old reserve Champagnes aged for more than twenty years, stored in large formats such as magnums and jeroboams, underlining the refinement of this rare and exclusive production.

On the palate, La Libertine is broad and velvety, with a measured and persistent sweetness, supported by notes of candied fruit, honey, and fine spices. The soft texture and silky mousse lead to a surprisingly fresh, harmonious, and refined finish, a true expression of the unique style of Domaine Doyard.

Champagne Doyard

The Doyard Domaine has its roots in Vertus, in the Côte des Blancs, where the family has been linked to viticulture since the 17th century. The official foundation dates back to 1927 with Maurice Doyard, who established a rigorous and authentic style aimed at showcasing Chardonnay and the mineral character of the chalky soils. Today, the estate is led by Guillaume Doyard, supported by his father Yannick, who remains active in the business.

The vineyard covers around 10 hectares divided between Vertus Premier Cru and the Grand Crus of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Cramant, Oger, and Aÿ. Some vines are over fifty years old and are farmed using organic methods, manual work, and the use of horses in the vineyards. This approach ensures low yields, respect for ecological balance, and grapes of outstanding quality, a true expression of the Côte des Blancs terroir.

In the cellar, the philosophy combines tradition and precision: gentle pressing with Coquard PAI presses, fermentations kept separate for each plot, and aging both in oak and stainless steel, without filtration or fining. All wines rest for at least 48 months on the lees, developing complexity, purity, and elegance — hallmarks of the Doyard style.
