Les Fondamentaux
The Champagne Les Fondamentaux by Vincent Bliard is the signature cuvée of the Domaine and the most faithful expression of its identity, a tribute to the family’s roots delivered in a contemporary and mindful style. From Hautvillers, in the Vallée de la Marne, the family pursues organic, environmentally respectful viticulture, and this cuvée embodies its most authentic spirit, a symbol of the continuity of the convictions that have always guided the work in the vineyard and the cellar.
This edition, from the 2020 harvest completed by 40% vin de réserve from the 2019 harvest, is made predominantly from Pinot Noir grapes (45%), which bring fruitiness and elegance, alongside Chardonnay (35%) for freshness and lightness and Meunier (20%) for roundness and crunch, all from estate-owned vineyards. Vinification and fermentation take place in large oak casks with indigenous yeasts and a naturally occurring malolactic fermentation, followed by 12 months of maturation sur lies that gives the wine depth and finesse. After tirage, the wine ages for 4 years in bottle on its lees, after which the final dosage, in Brut style, preserves freshness and precision.
On tasting, Les Fondamentaux stands out on the nose for its liveliness and elegance, with a clear and inviting aromatic profile. On the palate it reveals a creamy texture and perfectly integrated bubbles, supported by a firm yet always harmonious structure that leads to a balanced, satisfying finish of pleasing persistence.
