Coteaux Champenois Rousseaux-Batteux
Verzenay Blanc "Le Moulin" 2022
The Côteaux Champenois Verzenay Blanc Le Moulin by Rousseaux-Batteux is a white wine made from 100% Chardonnay, sourced from the 2022 harvest and originating from the eponymous lieu-dit. The old vines, planted in 1972, stand in the prestigious village of Verzenay, classified Grand Cru in the Montagne de Reims, and represent a rare expression of this exceptional terroir.
Vinification involves gentle pressing and a 24-hour settling period, followed by alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in oak barrels. The wine then ages for 18 months in barriques, without any filtration, in a winemaking approach that prioritises the purity and integrity of the fruit. Production is limited and individually numbered, with only 298 bottles made.
On the palate, Le Moulin reveals an elegant and profound profile, with aromas of white-fleshed fruit, citrus accents and toasted nuances. The taste is taut, mineral and persistent, with a fine structure that faithfully reflects the identity of the Chardonnay and its terroir.
