Les Devoix Blanc 2022
The Coteaux Champenois Blanc Les Devoix by Domaine La Borderie is a refined still white wine born in the Côte des Bar, near the village of Merrey-sur-Arce, where Chardonnay tells an unexpected, luminous and surprising side of Champagne. It comes to life from a single plot of vines planted in 1983, an authentic expression of an attentive viticulture and of a philosophy that places at its heart the respect for the soil and the pursuit of the purest identity of its own terroir.
This edition, 2022 harvest, takes shape entirely from Chardonnay grapes and involves a vinification with 50% in oak barrels, followed by a long and skilful ageing of around twelve months before bottling, which took place in August 2023. A white wine of rare elegance and admirable precision, able to convey with great fidelity the character and distinctive personality of its plot of origin.
In tasting, Les Devoix 2022 shows a satiny colour, luminous and clear, while the nose confirms the ripeness of the grapes with white peach, acacia blossom, verbena and chalk, enriched by brioche, toasted wood, hazelnut, grilled almond and delicate accents of pear, lemon and dried apricot. On the palate it is soft and fresh, highly fruity and supported by a well-integrated acidity, with a chalky minerality that brings frankness, iodised salinity and a fleshy, generous and persistent finish. Production in a limited run of 900 bottles.
