The Champagne Solera N°49 by Rousseaux-Batteux originates in Verzenay Grand Cru, in the Montagne de Reims, where the Rousseaux family has cultivated vineyards for generations on soils composed of chalk, clay, and marl. This cuvée represents the domaine’s most distinctive expression: a project built around a réserve perpétuelle started in 1976, preserving the memory of each harvest and offering a coherent interpretation of the terroir over time. The blend is composed predominantly of Pinot Noir and Meunier, with a small percentage of Chardonnay, sourced from Grand Cru and Premier Cru villages.

This N°49 edition combines approximately 50% wines from the 2023 harvest with 50% from the historic réserve perpétuelle active since 1976. Vinification takes place in oak barrels and stainless steel, a choice that brings together breadth and aromatic precision while preserving clarity and definition. After bottling, the Champagne ages on its lees for about 15 months, while the final dosage of 3 g/l – Extra Brut highlights its dry and linear profile, enhancing the mineral tension and expressive purity of the terroir.

On the nose, Solera N°49 reveals aromas of ripe apple, pear, and candied citrus, followed by hints of bread crust and delicate spices. On the palate, the texture is dynamic and layered, supported by incisive freshness and a saline streak that extends the finish. The structure is well balanced, with a clean and consistent persistence that reflects the interplay between youthful energy and the evolving depth of the solera.
