Champagne Leclerc Briant
Rosé Abyss Millésime 2019
The Champagne Rosé Abyss 2019 by Leclerc Briant represents one of the most extreme and fascinating expressions of contemporary oenological experimentation. Born from the visionary Abyss project, launched in 2013 in collaboration with the company Amphoris, this Rosé Millésime originates from vines cultivated on limestone soils, selected for their ability to withstand the marine environment. The cuvée combines Chardonnay (82%) from Bisseuil and Pinot Noir (18%)from Les Riceys, the latter vinified as a red wine. After a partial fermentation in wood and an ageing of 24 months on the lees, the bottles, disgorged in July 2022, were immersed for 11 months in the Atlantic waters, in the Bay of Stiff, off the coast of the island of Ouessant.
The recovery, carried out in June 2023, brought back to the surface a Champagne of extremely limited edition, marked by a rare and profound sensory identity. To the eye, it shows a reddish-amber hue, surprising and seductive. The bouquet opens with pronounced iodine notes, followed by nuances of citrus and red berries. Over time, floral tones of violet, touches of pistachio, and hints of biscuit emerge, while the palate, creamy and saline, reveals a refined texture where dried fruit harmoniously intertwines with marine minerality.
Abyss 2019 is much more than a Rosé: it is a sensory journey that merges innovation, depth, and terroir, marking a new horizon for the identity of Champagne.
