Les Champeaux - Edition Unique
The Champagne Les Champeaux by Laherte Frères is a unique and unrepeatable edition, a Blanc de Noirs from Meunier brought to life by old vines from the village of Boursault, on the Rive Gauche of the Vallée de la Marne, where this grape variety has always found one of its favoured homes. It is a heartfelt tribute to the ancestors and to the long presence of Meunier in the family holdings, interpreted with the sensitivity of Aurélien and the wish to preserve the memory of a place.
This edition, 2022 harvest, gathers the last Meunier from these old vines, replanted the following year with Petit Meslier, one of the rare and precious Cépages Oubliés. Spontaneous vinification and fermentation take place in fût de chêne, followed by an extended maturation in wood of 20 months, and after tirage comes ageing on the lees for around 24 months, while the final dosage of 2.5 g/l, in Extra Brut style, preserves all the purity and depth of the fruit.
On tasting, Les Champeaux shows itself precise and mineral, with an aromatic profile weaving ripe apple and pear, citrus, white flowers and light spicy hints over a chalky background of great clarity. On the palate it reveals a vinous and deep structure, supported by vibrant acidity that guides its development with balance towards a long, saline finish of remarkable persistence, faithfully conveying the identity of the place. Production in a limited run of 2367 bottles.
