Champagne Christophe Mignon
Vue sur la Vallée
The Champagne Vue sur la Vallée by Christophe Mignon takes its name from the sweeping view over the Vallée de la Marne. In Festigny, on the Rive Gauche of the river, the Domaine farms around six hectares divided into some thirty parcels, on clay, silt and limestone soils where Meunier finds its ideal home. The vigneron works it in a very personal way, bringing together biodynamics, phytotherapy, homeopathy and geobiology and following the lunar calendar in both the vineyard and the cellar. The result is a Blanc de Noirs that speaks directly of the village's vocation and of the wish to give Meunier the leading role it deserves.
This edition, based in equal parts on the 2021 and 2022 harvests, is vinified and matured in enamelled steel tanks, without malolactic fermentation, to preserve tension and freshness. After tirage, the wine ages on its lees for around 30 months, and the final dosage of 3 g/l, in Extra Brut style, quietly supports the wine's profile.
On tasting, Vue sur la Vallée opens with a fresh and inviting bouquet of white-fleshed fruit and delicate floral hints. On the palate it is juicy and lively, with a bright acidity that the absence of malolactic fermentation keeps crisp and precise. Meunier's generous fruit and the wine's slender structure are in harmony, leading to a clean, saline finish with pleasant persistence.
