Les Vignes d'Autrefois 2021
The Champagne Les Vignes d'Autrefois by Laherte Frères is a Blanc de Meunier born from old vines planted between 1947 and 1964 in Chavot, on the slopes of the Coteaux Sud d'Épernay. Here the vines, rooted in chalky and silty-clay soils, preserve the living memory of the variety and give back its most authentic identity, in a measured balance between textural depth and territorial freshness, where the artisanal signature of Aurélien Laherte translates into an essential and sincere style.
This edition, Vintage 2021, involves vinification and maturation entirely in fût de chêne, with spontaneous fermentations from indigenous yeasts and no filtration or fining. After the tirage, the wine ages for over 30 months on the lees, with a final dosage of 2 g/l, in Extra Brut style, which enhances the natural tension and expressive transparency of the fruit.
On tasting, Les Vignes d'Autrefois 2021 stands out for its vibrant energy, a compact gustatory texture and an incisive minerality. On the palate it evolves with elegance and drive, offering notes of ripe small red fruits, spicy accents and a saline, persistent finish that authentically recounts the bond between soil, time and grape variety.
